supporters like you who help provide the library with
to enhance research and promote academic learning. Like you,
to improve the quality and services of Pfeiffer's libraries.
Library enables students and community members to enjoy the
of a first-rate library.
Friends work together to make things happen. Since its inception, Friends of the Library, through its dues and fundraisers, has purchased furniture, carpeting, professional computer workstations, a book detection system, reference volumes, and much more. During the 2008-09 academic year, the Friends partnered with the university advancement office to raise $20,000 to allow the library to purchase JSTOR, an online archive of core journals across all the major disciplines. They also contributed heavily to the recent renovation of the former microfilm room within the main library, pictured at right. The Friends support both the main and Charlotte branches of the library, and purchases such as JSTOR help distance education and online students as well. Future improvements are now being planned to continue the Friends of the Library's outstanding history of service.
Friends help in other ways too. They are on hand to organize and supervise fundraising events for the library, attend and extend goodwill to neighboring library functions, and make our visiting authors, artists, and craftsmen feel at home.
As a Friend of the Library, you will become Pfeiffer's ambassador to the students and the community and a patron of art and literature. You will know that you are helping to enrich our community and the lives of our students. Your dues will help continue the programs already in place and facilitate new ones.
You will receive advance notification of luncheons, receptions and other functions; a copy of our newsletter; and discounts for special events.
So join us and meet fascinating authors and artists and renew old acquaintances at events. We accept new members at any time. Memberships run on a calendar basis (January - December).
