Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided to all faculty, students, and
staff of Pfeiffer University. Interlibrary Loan is used to provide
access to materials in libraries across the country. Any material not
owned by Pfeiffer library, including books and journal articles, may be
requested through Interlibrary Loan. Requests may be made via Web
(below), email, phone, or in-person.
To find materials not held by Pfeiffer Library:
- Use the WorldCat database in FirstSearch to find books on
your subject.
- Find citations to journals articles through our online databases or in print indexes.
- Always check the Pfeiffer
Online Catalog for our book and journal holdings before placing ILL
requests. Consider other resources that will provide the same
information.
Interlibrary Loan Fees and Policies
- Students
are limited to 10 ILL items at a
time. Additional items may be requested as previous
ones are returned. Since journal articles are usually received as
photocopies that you can keep, additional articles may be
requested when you have picked up all articles in your first
request.
- Requests
for renewals of ILL materials must be made at least 3 business
days before the due date. Renewals are not guaranteed, as some
libraries will not renew their materials. Students are limited to
one renewal per item.
- Student
overdue fines for ILL materials are 50 cents per day per item.
- Interlibrary
Loan is a free service; however, occasionally materials cannot be
obtained for free, and the cost is passed on to the borrower. We
will obtain your consent before ordering such materials.
- ILL requests
take on average 1 week to process and deliver to you. We cannot
guarantee delivery by a certain date.
- Interlibrary loan requests that are found to be available
through a library local to your learning site will not be filled.
